It started with zaiid, our 1.10yo baby who got a nasty flu last week. the doctor said it was due to weather change. Thankfully, he's at least not getting any fever.
The flu passed on to my husband and then finally to me. I couldn't go to work today because of the fever I got since last night. I was worried I could be hurting Baby Manghud. He was giving out more jabs and kicks these days. Haaay, I hope our little one is ok.
I found this from babycenter:
"Well, if you have a high fever in the first trimester when the baby is forming, it can cause neural tube defects. After the first trimester, having a fever puts a certain metabolic stress on the baby — you're both burning up calories and oxygen faster, so it's like the baby has a fever too. But it's not dangerous unless the pregnancy is already on the edge. If you have cystic fibrosis or heart disease, for instance, a fever at that point could tip you over into more serious complications. A fever from the flu won't directly hurt your baby after the first trimester, although pregnant women can get very sick from the flu and should be vaccinated against it. But if you're totally healthy, a routine cold with a fever isn't going to have much effect on either you or the baby."
I didn't want to take medicine to relieve my body aches and the fever. I was too scared it might harm my little bump. So we searched the net and found out that it was totally safe to take Paracetamol (Panadol) during pregnancy. I took one tablet about three hours ago and had a good rest. The fever's gone now. I was already up singing with Zaiid "In A Cottage By The Wood" again.

United Colored Neighborhood
After work, I see my babylove munching or wanting to get a toy from one kid, or just running around in his sun-smelly shirt. It makes us happy to see he's getting a "playgroup".
I call them United Colored Neighborhood. THE TROOP: chinese-korean, arab, indian, russian-iraqi, tagalog, bisaya.
Even with Dubai's dullness, we still manage to get the kids out to play. Well, that's thanks to my super friendly hyper yaya who I think is starting a some kind of organization and befriending almost any child she sees. (Ok, I'm kidding about the organization).
More photos in my multiply. Sorry we need to be contacts to see the photos :)

disco fever
My head hurts and it's throbbing like a disco club. A disco club is never my kind of thing. I hate it when conversations need to be at the top of your lungs, and where lights go red - then yellow - then green - all in neon baby! Then boom! boom! boom! That is how my head feels like. I am so not into the groove. I'm dizzy. lazy. sleeply.

Get well soon on your birthday.
Please help us pray for my good friend Tschai who is battling dengue at a hospital right now. Get well soon Tschai. We pray for your fast recovery.Tschai is a paper addict, a loving wife and a mother of two.
cupcake-cupcraze!
I was browsing for my soon-to-be-2-year-old son his birthday cake. I was planning to get him a Car formed cake but really it all depends on how big the D is. (D= dirhams)
But instead of getting on track, my eyes have wandered through these little pretties! I don't think I'll get over loving cupcakes!
(photo on right: one of Trish's cupcake display)
We had cupcakes as our wedding cake back in 2004. Our cupcakes aren't fancy, they were simple and shy just the way I like it. After a few months, I realized it wasn't that original after all. A lot of weddings have resorted to cupcakes. A trend maybe? But even up to now, I am still charmed by how these little ones come together to create one magnificent theme for an occasion.
My friend, the very talented Jade has gone crazy over cupcakes too! She is popular for her naughty cakes and even the not so ordinary wedding proposal answer in a cake. I can't wait to go home and ask her to make me one of those colorful, sweet cupcakes... uh... maybe for Baby Manghud's Christening? I can make her Ninang and then it would be natural to give the cupcakes to her kinugos for free! hahahah good thinking! ;)
It must be a cupcake day for me! Karen just gave me a link of these cuties! I admire this pretty lady's grace in making these masterpieces. It's genuinely pure talent. Sorry, they're not one of those ordinary cupcakes. They're pendants! View more of anjeli's collection here.Ahh...don't you just love weekdays without the boss at your back?
ZAIID turns a little older
I admire my boy. The way he picks up a game, or when puts on a show when everybody's watching him, and how he understands simple rules around the house. He breaks them once in a while, on purpose, watches us intently as we say "No, Zaiid..." then comes to us with his I'm-sorry-face plus a 5-second hug. So dramatic.
He's learning words one at a time. He wants to say them perfectly that he would make his little nose lisngag in the process. His vocabulary includes new words like "Min" for milk, "Fava" for flower, "Bas" for blocks, "Cok" for clock, "Pish" for fish. He points, without a miss, to whatever object you'd ask him to from his favorite book of the month. I would want to think his brilliance can save the world, but that would just be a pure mother's pride.
At 22 months old, he's overweight (on a diet) but has not mastered the art of chewing, he's TV proof but knows what youtube is, doesn't like to dance, but has a good taste in music, loves anything watery - water dispenser, taking a bath, the sea, but hates drinking his water, loves to jump up and down or turning around until the world wouldn't stop turning, throws things in different ways and expects a different result, mimics his papa's acrobats and "magic" like a pro.
